Catherine E. Amiot is a professor of social psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal. She received her PhD from the University of Ottawa in 2004. Her program of research is organised into three main axes, that aim to: (1) Investigate the processes through which new social identities become integrated in the self-concept over time, and how this integration impacts on psychological well-being and health; (2) Understand the normative factors that promote the internalisation of harmful social behaviors (e.g., discrimination; ingroup bias); and (3) Investigate various forms of superordinate identification, including identification with animals.

Professor Amiot's research has been funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the Fund for research on society and culture - Québec (FQRSC), and the Fund for research on health - Québec (FRSQ). Her work has been published in journals such as Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Personality and Social Psychology Review, European Journal of Social Psychology, and Self and Identity.
